Bentonite Mat

Bentonite with Geotextile Mat

This product is designed by combining the impermeable properties of bentonite with the structural characteristics of geotextiles, enabling its application to civil engineering sites and facilities.

To enhance applicability and efficiency for various site conditions, it is manufactured based on precise technical foundations and thorough adaptation to field conditions after on-site testing.

Application Areas of
Bentonite Mat
Waste landfill facilities, artificial lakes and channels, cut-and-cover sections
or underground structures, environmental protection facilities

Characteristics of Bentonite Mat

  • 01
    Excellent Impermeability

The swelling property of sodium bentonite when reacting with water expands up
to 10–15 times its original volume.

During this process, a low permeability
layer of ×10-9 cm/sec is formed, providing outstanding impermeability.

  • 02
    Self-Sealing Property

In case of cracks in the impermeable structure or damage to the bentonite mat
itself, its excellent swelling ability ensures self-sealing and
self-healing effects, maintaining stability against other risk factors.

  • 03
    Excellent Workability

Manufactured in factories and delivered in roll form, it is easy to handle on-site.

Especially at joints between materials, installation requires no special equipment
and can be completed by simple overlapping, minimizing construction time.

  • 04
    Restorability and Continuity

It freely expands and contracts in response to water, demonstrating excellent
    restorability.

his restorability continues semi-permanently, ensuring long-term
    continuity of impermeability performance.

  • 05
    Chemical Resistance

By applying a special polymer coating to bentonite particles, it maintains stable
impermeability even against chemical components such as contaminated water.

Applications of Bentonite Mat

01
Waste Landfill Facilities
  • Applied to slopes where construction of compacted clay layers is difficult, ensuring impermeability stability
  • Applied to landfill floors to eliminate the need for compacted clay layer construction
  • Creates a complete impermeable system with composite impermeability integrated with liner sheets
02
Artificial Lakes and Canals
  • Applied to the bottom and sides of hydraulic structures such as lakes, canals, golf course ponds, and reservoirs
  • Provides structural impermeability against cracking and flow in clay layers
  • Ensures stability when applied as a composite barrier on slopes
03
Underground Structures
  • Applied to impermeability systems for tunnels, utility corridors, and underground exterior walls
  • Even for complex structures, the flexibility of bentonite mat ensures easy and precise installation without additional materials or equipment
  • Provides secondary impermeability through self-sealing in case of cracks in concrete
04
Other Environmental Protection Facilities
  • Applied to secondary containment facilities for areas that
may cause environmental pollution, such as chemical storage tanks, wastewater treatment tanks, and mines
